Description

1-9 Millbridge Mews is a former maltings building, now converted into dwellings, dating from the mid-19th century and remodelled around 1970. The structure is built of yellow brick in English bond, with a Welsh slate roof covering the kiln and old tiles on the other roof areas.

The building is two storeys high and features a long, low range with the kiln located at the south end. The first floor has 20th-century two-light wood casements inserted in the existing openings, which are beneath two-course header segmental arches. The ground floor also has 20th-century two-light casements and timber doors, with alternating projecting corbel bands below the eaves.

Although the interior was not inspected, Millbridge Mews is accessed beneath the carriageway of No. 1 St Andrew Street. Despite the remodelling, the maltings retains its external character.
