Description

This is an early to mid-19th century shop with a residential space above, located in Hertford. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with weatherboarding on the upper sections and a rear outshoot constructed of yellow brick. The roof is covered in Welsh slate and features a yellow brick chimney with an oversailing course and terracotta pots.

The exterior is three stories high. The first and second floors have nearly flush-set sash windows with glazing bars, each framed by architraves. The ground floor contains a mid-19th century shopfront, notable for its arcaded triple-light display window. A later brown glazed brick stallriser is present. To the left is a glazed entrance door with arcaded consoles that support the fascia.

Inside, the ground floor has been opened into a single trading area. Simple cast-iron grates remain on the upper floors. A cellar, accessible by an external staircase, contains a 19th-century cooking range.
