Description

The Half Moon Public House is a building that originated as a house, dating from the 17th century or earlier, and was remodeled in the 18th century. It is a timber-framed and plastered corner building that faces south, featuring two storeys and two windows wide. The roof is hipped and covered with old red tiles, and there is a rear extension with a slate catslide roof. To the left, there is a single-storey addition with a slate roof. An external gable chimney made of red brick is located on the west side, with a later chimney on the east side. The building has early 19th-century flush sash windows with three-over-three panes and moulded architraves. There are also two single-storey canted bay windows, each with sash windows arranged in a pattern of two-over-two, three-over-three, and two-over-two panes, all linked under a continuous hipped slate roof. The central entrance features a four-panel door with the top panels glazed, and the entrance area is now enclosed by a glazed screen. Inside, the ground floor has exposed square section floor joists in the right-hand room. The left-hand room is one step higher and represents the cross-wing of the earlier building, while the right-hand room has an east gable fireplace and an inserted floor, representing the hall range.
