Description
This is an outbuilding located 8 metres north-north-east of the Halfway House in Little Hadham, which was originally a forge. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with two bays and faces east. It features a steep gabled roof covered in old red tiles. There are doors on the east and west sides. The clasped purlin roof has been reconstructed. At the southern end, there is a 19th-century red brick forge, and in the north-west corner, there is an older red brick forge built in header bond. The building also has an end lean-to.
