Description

The Old Farmhouse at Buck's Farm is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It features a timber frame on a brick base, with rendered and weatherboarded walls and tiled roofs. The structure consists of a two-bay hall range with a crosswing and two small gabled wings, all of which are two storeys high. The original front no longer has an entrance; instead, there is a catslide roof over a lean-to that replaces what was likely the original lobby entry on the left bay of the hall range. The stack has been rebuilt in 19th century red brick.

The crosswing projects to the left, with a weatherboarded ground floor that includes a 20th century casement window, while the first floor features a two-light small pane flush frame casement. The exposed plates and purlins are visible. The left return has an entrance, with weatherboarding on the ground floor and a projecting, slightly lower gabled wing. Towards the rear, there is a ground floor four-light casement. The right gable end has a two-light small pane casement on the first floor, along with 20th century windows on the ground floor and attic. At the rear, there is a ground floor three-light flush iron frame casement and two-light small pane casements in the crosswing. A full-height probable stair wing projects to the rear where the hall and wing meet, featuring a weatherboarded ground floor with a two-light casement entrance in the return and a small light in the gabled attic.

Inside, there is a newel stair. Attached to the left side of the house is a low one-storey outbuilding that is weatherboarded with a slate roof, containing two doors and a two-light casement window.
