Description

This is a house, later used as offices, dating to around 1700. A matching north extension was added in the early 18th century. The house is constructed of red brick, with weatherboarded timber framing at the southern end. A wooden eaves cornice, supported by modillions, runs along the top. The northern extension is faced with plum-coloured brick. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with old red tiles, and hipped. The house is two-and-a-half storeys high, with a basement, and is set back in a yard, facing west, built on a slope that descends to the rear.

The original red brick section is symmetrical, three windows wide with a central door. It has slightly recessed mullioned and transomed windows with rectangular leaded glazing, three lights wide, and a two-light window above the door. The front door is a six-panel fielded door set two steps up, framed by a Doric doorcase with pilasters and an open pediment. A matching two-light window and half-glazed door are present on the north extension. The rear wall features a large chimney, and external gable chimneys are located on the north and south sides. A single-and-a-half storey range is attached to the south. A 20th-century block at the southwest corner is not of particular interest. A Sun Fire Insurance plaque, numbered 47130, is displayed on the front.
