Description
No. 16 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop. The southern part of the building is an early 18th-century wing that is attached to No. 18, while the northern part is a 19th-century extension that matches the original design. The southern section is constructed from plum brick, with light red brick used for the moulded floor plinth band, offsets, window surrounds, and gauged arches. The plinth is not present in the matching northern extension. The building has two storeys and features five windows, presenting a symmetrical facade facing east, with end chimneys and a hipped roof covered in old red tiles. The central entrance door is flanked by large shallow bow windows with small panes. The windows are flush box sash types with margin lights and moulded surrounds. Above the glazed door, which is accessed by two steps, is a margin-light rectangular fanlight. This building is included for its group value with other nearby structures.
