Description

The Old Bell Public House is an early 18th century building located on High Street, originally established on the site of an inn from 1603. It features a colour brick front with a rainwater head dated 1725. The building stands three storeys high and includes a band at the second floor level, a moulded brick cornice, and a parapet. There are five sash windows, with a canted bay on the left side of the ground floor. A wide balcony with decorative iron railings, which is of later date, is present on the first floor. Inside, the front bar showcases early 19th century French scenic wallpaper. The second floor has two dummy windows, while the first floor includes a central balcony doorway with a six-panel door and a fanlight.
