Description
This is a row of six early 18th-century houses on the High Street. The front is constructed of red brick, with accents of blue, brown, and grey bricks laid in header courses. A moulded brick cornice runs along the top, above a parapet. A notable feature is the rainwater head dated 1728 and bearing the initials “S” above “W S”. There is a slight central projection, and the windows are 3:2:3 sash windows with glazing bars, set within segmental cutter arches and adorned with ornate brick aprons below the upper pair of windows. Flush red brick quoins define the corners. 19th-century shop windows have been inserted. The same initials appear on house number 63, dated 1736, suggesting a connection between the properties.
