Description
This is a range of early 18th-century buildings on the High Street. A rainwater head dated 1714, bearing the initials IW, indicates the original build date. The buildings are constructed of purple brick, with No. 69 being cement-rendered and colour-washed, while Nos. 65 and 67 have dressings of red brick. They have hipped tiled roofs with a moulded wooden cornice, with modillion detailing to No. 65. The range is three storeys high, with a slightly recessed central section containing a pair of carriageways. The upper floors feature sash windows arranged in a pattern of 5 windows, then 2 windows, then 4 windows. A shop window from the early 19th century is present at No. 65, while Nos. 67 and 69 have more modern shop fronts incorporating 19th-century cornices.
The buildings are part of a group including Nos. 57 and 83 (odd), and Nos. 63A and 79A.
