Description
Granary Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with a matching northwest rear wing added in the 20th century. It features a timber frame with red brick infilling on the first floor, while the ground floor is cased in brick with an offset. The building has a steep old red tile roof and is a small one and a half storeys tall, with two windows along the south-facing side at a road junction. There are two gabled dormers at the front eaves and a large external chimney on the west gable with tiled offsets. Additionally, a 19th-century single-flue external chimney has been added to the east gable. The windows are two-light flush casements, and there is a plank door. The frame is fully exposed on the east gable, showcasing unjowled posts, straight tension braces, and wide panels. The rear outshut is timber framed and has a catslide roof. The west gable features similar framing with a clasped-purlin roof truss that includes a collar and queen-struts.
