Description
Apsley Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1853 for Charles Longman, who relocated the farm to construct Shendish House on the original site to the southeast. The building is made of uncoursed knapped flint with grey brick dressings and features red tiled steep roofs adorned with ornamental banding and carved bargeboards. This large, two-storey house has an H-plan layout and faces south, with an octagonal outhouse connected to the southwest corner by a tiled covered way. The front has five windows, with gabled wings at each end and a pair of smaller gables flanking the entrance. The cusped bargeboards include pendants, and the windows are two-light mullioned with small panes and labels. The house has large chimneys with conjoined square flues. The rear features three windows in the center with segmental arches and a central door, along with one-storey sections to each wing. There are three windows on the east and west fronts.
