Description
This is a house, likely dating back to the 17th century or earlier, with a substantial 18th-century brick facade and a 19th or early 20th-century rear wing to the southeast. The rear of the house reveals a timber frame construction with brick sills. The front is built of red brick, incorporating some blue headers, while the southeast wing is also red brick. It has a steep roof covered in old red tiles.
The house is L-shaped and faces west on the north corner of a lane leading to allotments. The south front is symmetrical, featuring two windows on each floor, a central door, and wide areas of brickwork at each end, indicating large internal gable chimneys. The windows are flush, two-light casements with small panes, heavy frames, and segmental arches on the ground floor. A four-panel flush beaded door is centrally positioned. A projecting band runs along the eaves. At the southwest corner, the original brickwork of the front block is bonded to later brickwork casing the south gable. The full-height timber frame, featuring straight tension braces, is exposed at the rear. The property was formerly known as Sear's Cottage.
