Description

The Baas is a building dating from the late 15th century, with alterations made in the late 17th century and the 19th century. The eastern half of the structure is constructed of red brick, while the western half is weatherboarded. It features an old tile hipped roof and a chimney stack with square and diagonal set shafts.

The eastern half is two storeys high and has two pairs of 15th-century chamfered pointed lights on the first floor of the eastern elevation, with modern copies on the ground floor. The northern elevation includes a 17th-century oak-panelled door set in a segmental arch with sunken spandrels, topped by a shell hood supported on leaf consoles. Both the ground and first floors have mullioned and transomed casements.

The western half of the building is three storeys tall and has a single window, primarily fitted with modern leaded casements. At the rear center of the house, there is a modern conservatory that incorporates late 18th-century fluted columns and a doorcase with a scroll pediment.
