Description
The former gates, gateposts, and boundary walls to The Grange date from around 1730. The gateposts are made of rubbed brick with stone dressings and have a square plan, featuring a moulded plinth, coved cornice, and ball tops. Each gatepost has two fielded panels on each face. The wrought iron double gates are adorned with scrolled panels, cresting, and a central 'AO' insignia. The boundary walls, constructed of 17th or 18th century red brick, extend to the north and south. The wall on the south side is in an L-plan, following the north side of Cock Lane for about 80 meters. It has regularly spaced flat buttresses, sloped brick coping, and has been restored on the eastern side.
