Description

The buildings at 76 and 78 High Road, Broxbourne, comprise a 16th/17th century timber-frame rear range with an early 19th century front facade. The front is roughcast over yellow stock brick, while the rear range has an old tile roof. Originally an inn, the building has a 4-window front with modern windows and a shop. The rear range consists of two bays, featuring an early 17th century inserted floor with stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. A blocked first-floor window is visible on the rear gable end. The south elevation, facing a courtyard, has a horizontal sash window and a paired casement. A blocked coach entrance is located at the rear of the front range.
