Description
This is a 16th-century bank barn located 50 meters northeast of Wolseys Farmhouse in Great Easton. The barn is timber framed and covered in black weatherboarding. Its roof is half hipped with gablets, finished with asbestos slates, and features a hipped midstrey on the south side. The structure has aisles supported by jowled storey and aisle posts, with curved braces connecting to the tie beams and straight aisle braces. The roof is constructed with clasped side purlins and includes wind bracing in the eastern bay. The south side, along with the roof and midstrey, appears to have been rebuilt in the 17th century, incorporating halved and bladed scarf joints.
