Description

The Rising Sun Public House is an early 17th-century public house that is two storeys high and constructed with a timber frame and plaster. It features a very steep gabled roof covered with peg tiles, and the gable end has been rebuilt in red brick during the early 19th century. The front of the building includes a central 20th-century flat-roofed porch and metal casements. The rear has been updated in the early 19th century, showcasing white painted boarding and impressive cast iron gothic casements with pointed lights. There is also a rear kitchen extension and a single-storey gabled extension from the 21st century on the west side. Inside, the building retains the basic structure of the early 17th-century house, with substantial storey posts and a narrow bay at the west end.
