Description

This is a 19th-century cast iron village pump located 20 metres south of the Post Office Stores in Little Dunmow. The pump is tall and ornate, featuring two decorated spouts and an ornamented base that has a plate reading "Warners, Cripplegate, London." The handle is marked with the number 40 on a stop. The octagonal head of the pump is adorned with bead and egg and dart moulding, topped with a ball finial that is clasped by acorn twigs.
