Description

CLAVERING MIDDLE STREET 1. 5222 (south side) The Old Post Office TL 4731 41/135 21.2.67 II GV

  1. Situated at the south end facing north up the street. C16-C17 timber-framed and plastered house. Restored, with the timber-framing exposed on the front. Two storeys. At the east and west ends of the front the upper storey is jettied on exposed joists and curved brackets. The upper storey windows are leaded casements and the ground storey windows are double-hung sashes with vertical glazing bars. Roof thatched, hipped at the west end and half hipped at the east end, with a lower ridge level and the roof swept down to the ground storey window. Central chimney stack. (RCHM 14).
