Description
The Old Post Office is a 16th to 17th century timber-framed and plastered house located at the south end of Clavering Middle Street, facing north. The building has been restored, revealing its timber-framing on the front. It stands two storeys tall, with the upper storey jettied at both the east and west ends, supported by exposed joists and curved brackets. The upper storey features leaded casement windows, while the ground storey has double-hung sash windows with vertical glazing bars. The roof is thatched, hipped at the west end and half hipped at the east end, with a lower ridge level that sweeps down to the ground storey window. A central chimney stack is present.
