Description

Bakers is a 16th-century timber-framed and plastered building located on Clavering Middle Street. It stands two storeys tall, with a gabled south end that features a jettied upper storey supported by exposed joists and curved brackets, along with original cusped bargeboards. The ground storey is weather-boarded. A later building has been added between the 16th-century houses to the north and south, and it is now part of Bakers. The building has casement windows, with a thatched roof on the main block and a tiled roof on the jettied gable. Inside, there are exposed timber-framing elements and some original pargetting.
