Description
Mascallsbury is a house that originated in the 15th century and was altered and extended in the 16th and 17th centuries. It features a timber frame with a 19th-century yellow brick facade and red plain tile roofs. The building is mainly two storeys high and includes gabled dormers in the main range. The roof consists of five sections, including a hipped wing and a crosswing on the right. The hipped wing projects forward, creating a facade angle of 45 degrees.
The main range has a two-window arrangement with a window above the porch, while the angled ground floor projection has a three-window range with a door. To the left extension, there is a two-window range. All windows are various sliding sashes with gauged brick arches. The house features dentilled eaves and a brick parapet, along with decorated barge boards on the gables.
The entrance includes a six-panelled door set in a moulded architrave, topped with a rectangular fanlight. The flat porch is supported by pilasters and columns with moulded eaves. There are two attached chimney stacks: one square and one diagonal, both made of red brick with moulded cappings, as well as a square external red brick chimney on the left. The house is situated on a moated site.
