Description
The cartlodge at Tremhall Priory Farm is likely from the early 19th century and incorporates older timbers. It features a timber frame with block tarred weatherboarding on the rear and part of the sides, topped by a clay pantile fly-hipped roof. The north elevation displays old render on the upper section. The structure consists of five bays with open front posts resting on square stone blocks. It includes arch braces to the tie beams and a 'V' strut roof supported by side purlins. There is a lean-to at the rear, which may be original, and it contains much reused timber, including a late medieval girt with a mortice for a jetty bracket. Arch braces extend to the top plate from each rear corner post, and there is a floor over the northernmost bay.
