Description

This is a red brick round tower mill, built in 1787 for Joseph Linsell, as indicated by the date scratched into a brick. The mill ceased operation in 1910 and was purchased and restored in 1929 by Lord Blyth. Although the wooden cap was rebuilt, the shutters on the sails were not restored. A distinctive feature of the cap is an oval shutter with a ladder beneath, used for access during painting. The mill is five storeys high, with three raised bands encircling the tower. It was in use as a Boy Scout centre and was well-maintained at the time of its listing.
