Description
The bakehouse, located approximately 7 meters south of Flemings Hill Farmhouse, dates from the late 15th century or early 16th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, featuring late 18th century and 20th century red brick cladding on the lower walls. The roof is covered with red plain tiles. One end of the building has the timber frame exposed. There is a red brick chimney stack from the 18th century. The bakehouse is a single storey and has a small two-light window. Originally, it had a crown post roof, but the actual post has been removed; however, the remaining structure, including the collar purlin, is still intact. This building is noted as a rare example of an external late-medieval kitchen, likely associated with the former farmhouse, which is now a barn.
