Description

This is a barn located 30 meters northeast of Blamster Hall, dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a half hipped peg tiled roof. The barn features six bays that are aisled to the north, although the former south aisle has been removed and replaced with a brick lean-to that has a slate roof. On the south side, there is a near central, gabled midstrey that is very deep and also has a peg tiled roof, which includes a dovecot. Inside, the arcade posts are mostly reused, with one featuring a double jowl, and the top plates are joined with halved and bridled scarf joints. The roof structure consists of side purlins that are partly clasped and partly framed, supported by large arch braces.
