Description
The Rose and Crown Inn is a 16th to 17th century timber-framed and plastered building, designed in an L-shaped plan with wings extending to the north and west. It stands two storeys high and features a three-window range on the front, primarily with casement windows that have glazing bars. The ground storey includes two small canted bays with double-hung sash windows. The roof is hipped and tiled, with an original internal chimney stack that has diagonal shafts, although it has been rebuilt or restored. Inside, the north room on the ground storey, known as the Cromwell Room, boasts moulded ceiling beams and joists, along with a series of early 17th century wall paintings.
