C1848 a single storey village school built of red brick with black diaper pattern of headers, in a restrained Jacobean style. Symmetrical H-plan with additional central porch cross-wing of greater projection. Stone slate roofs, replaced to rear and partly to side by concrete slates. Gable ends to wings have saddle stones with Portland stone kneelers. Moulded brick corbelled eaves. 3 buttresses with stone offset articulate the main block each side of the porch. 3 four-centred arched doorways with chamfered edges to reveals, one in central porch, blocked, has inscribed plaque set over. Chamfered window openings with flat gauged brick arches. Lozenge pattern glazing bars to casements (2 light in the main block, 3 lights in the crosswings) 3 tall cruciform plan chimney stacks on ridges of crossovers and 2 boiler vents and a bellcote disposed symmetrically on main ridge. A carefully detailed school design for this period, well sited in relation to the church.
