Description

Ravens is a house of 16th-century origin, though it has been significantly altered and extended in the 19th century and later. The exterior has been completely refaced in red brick. The house is two storeys high with attics and a cellar. The west front has a two-window range, featuring double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. A modern bay containing matching sash windows has been added to the south end. A central doorway is framed by a wooden doorcase with panelled reveals, pilasters and an open, dentilled pediment. The south side exhibits a two-window range and a stepped wall which partially screens a lower wing extending to the rear, towards the east. The roofs are tiled, and retain two original chimney stacks, displaying the bases of octagonal shafts, two and three in number. The interior retains elements of a 16th-century timber frame.
