Description
27 Hill Street is a house dating from the 18th century, with some refurbishment in the 19th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped by a peg-tiled gambrel roof and features a large external stack at the eastern end. The building has a rectangular plan for the main block and includes a deep single-storey rear lean-to. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a cellar.
The northern elevation, which faces the front, has 19th-century panel pargetting and plastered hood moulds over sliding sash windows that include glazing bars. There is a central doorway with a hood-mould, a moulded architrave, and a six-panelled door, where the upper panels are glazed. A single flat-headed dormer is also present.
On the southern elevation at the rear, there is a secondary stack that rises through the roof pitch at the western end. This side features a 20th-century two-light window with glazing bars and four panes by three. A single ramped dormer window is also located here. The eastern end elevation showcases a large external 18th-century central stack, which has been reduced and rebuilt at the top, along with a small single-light window on the ground floor towards the rear.
