Description

Goodhall is a house dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of gault brick with a hipped grey slate roof and chimney stacks at the rear right and left. The house is two storeys high and comprises three bays, with pilasters at each end and in the centre. The first floor has three small-paned vertically sliding sash windows. On the ground floor are French windows with fanlights, gauged brick arches, and shutters on the left and right sides. The central door is a four-panel design with two lights and a reveal panel. Circular columns with capitals and bases support a flat canopy, frieze, and cornice above the door. According to local records, Lucy Fenn lived at Goodhall in 1796, as documented in "Ardleigh in 1796" by F.H. Erith in 1978.
