Description

This is a thatched cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century, or possibly earlier, with later alterations and additions. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, with plaster to the gable. It has a half-hipped thatched roof with a hip to the road-facing elevation and a left-hand chimney stack. The cottage is one storey high with attics, and features two eyebrow dormers. The front of the cottage has three casement windows with varied leading, shutters, and pentice boards, alongside three narrow, tall windows with pentice boards. A 20th-century door is located on the right side, and a 20th-century extension is attached. The road-facing gable has a casement window and ground-floor window. A further extension to the left also features a slanting thatched roof. Historical records indicate that John Foquear, a husbandman, resided at the cottage in 1796.
