Description
The Brambles is a cottage dating from the 17th to 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and has a rough rendered exterior. The roof is covered with red plain tiles, and there is a red brick chimney stack. At the rear, there is a chimney for a brewhouse or bakehouse. The building has one storey and attics, featuring two gabled dormers with 19th-century two-light casement windows. There is a lean-to extension at the back. On the ground floor, there are two small paned horizontal sliding sash windows and vertically boarded doors on both the right and left sides. Inside, the cottage retains its original 17th to 18th-century frame with through bracing. The ground floor includes moulded jowled storey posts, back-to-back fireplaces—one of which has an 18th to 19th-century cast iron hob grate and timber surround—and stairs located by the chimney stacks. The doors inside are also vertically boarded.
