Description

Russell House is a pair of cottages located on Canewdon High Street, dating from the 17th or 18th century, with a date of 1674 marked on the front. The cottages are constructed of painted brick and feature a red plain tiled roof. There are two rear plastered chimney stacks. The buildings are one storey high with attics, and they include four hipped dormers that have 2-light casements. A dentilled eaves cornice adds detail to the roofline. The front has a range of four windows, which are small paned vertically sliding sashes with segmental heads. Each cottage has a central board door; the door on the left is set under a dentilled soffit, while the door on the right is located beneath a pentice board supported by curving brackets.
