Description

ASHINGDON FAMBRIDGE ROAD, SOUTH TQ 89 NE FAMBRIDGE 2/5 The Old Ferry House and range to right 22.7.83 II House. Late C18, of earlier origin. Red brick. Hipped red plain tiled roof. Chimney stack to rear range. 2 storeys with outshot to left and single storey weatherboarded range to right. Various rear ranges. Gutters on wooden brackets. 3 window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, gauged segmental heads. Off centre right 4-panelled door, moulded surround, frieze, dentilled open pediment on brackets. Single window to left outshot. 2 fixed windows and vertically boarded doors to right and left of right range. Gabled dormer to left outshot return. Internal features include stop chamfered bridging joists, several simple C18 fireplaces, Cl9 re-positioned stairs, original stair turret at rear. The C18 roof incorporates one steeply cambered tie beam with huge brace mortices, probably pre-mid C15 and many re-used sooted rafters.
