Description
The chapel attached to Braxted Place, formerly known as The Rectory, was built around 1885 by Reverend Ernest Geldart, who was the former Vicar of Little Braxted and later focused on architecture after leaving his parish. The chapel is constructed of red brick, some of which may have been reused from the 18th century, and features a red plain tiled roof. It is a single-storey building with a left wall that steps irregularly to a rounded gable, topped with a fine wrought iron cross. There is a moulded brick circular window with stained glass, and a central plank and muntin door that has a segmental arch and a moulded brick label above it. To the left side of the chapel, there are three small windows with chamfered segmental heads, also featuring stained glass. Some original stencilling can still be seen on the roof timbers.
