Description
These attached cottages stand in Church Lane, Ulting, and likely date back to the 15th century or earlier, with additions made in the 17th and 18th centuries. Further rear extensions and alterations occurred in the 20th century. They are timber-framed and plastered, with red plain tiled roofs; the roof to the right-hand side is gambrelled and includes a flat-headed dormer. Three red brick chimney stacks are visible on the front ranges. The left range is two storeys high, while the range to the right is single storey with attics. The front features a 3:2 window arrangement of small-paned casement windows. There are red tiled porches supported by brackets, one at the left-hand door and one at the left return. A board door is located on the right-hand range. The original house retains some exposed timber framing internally, including stop-chamfered bridging joists, halved arched bracing to the rear wall, and jowled storey posts.
