Description
The portrait figure of Elisabeth Frink, created in 1956 by F E McWilliam, is located off Westgate in Harlow town centre. This life-size bronze sculpture stands approximately 1.83 meters high on a concrete plinth. Frink is depicted barefoot, dressed in jeans and a T-shirt with rolled-up sleeves. Her head is turned to one side, showcasing finely modeled facial features and a stylized representation of her piled-up hair. The hands are positioned loosely at her sides, and the feet are slightly splayed. The rough finish of the sculpture was achieved by molding small pieces of clay from which the bronze was cast. A small bronze plaque mounted on the plinth bears the inscription 'PORTRAIT FIGURE / by F.E. McWILLIAM / ACQUIRED BY THE HARLOW ART TRUST WITH / THE AID OF THE CONTEMPORARY ART SOCIETY'.
