Description
Orchard Croft is a crescent of houses built between 1952 and 1953, designed by Frederick Gibberd as part of the Harlow Design Group. The houses are constructed of brown brick with rendering on the ground floor and feature projecting concrete surrounds around the first-floor windows. They have low-pitched concrete pantiled roofs that are hidden behind parapets. The houses are three stories tall and include carports and glazed entrances on the ground floor. Some windows have been replaced with uPVC, while others retain their original painted metal frames. There are chimney stacks along the ridge line. Orchard Croft, along with Nos. 161-165, forms an impressive crescent facing south towards The Stow playing field, serving as a prelude to the nearby neighbourhood shopping centre, which is not included in the listing.
