Description

The Lambourne coal duty boundary post is a boundary marker from 1862, cast by Henry Grissell. It is made of cast iron and features a white-painted square column with chamfered corners and a pyramidal top. Below the top, there is a necking adorned with a shield that displays the City of London crest. The column has a raised inscription that reads ‘4 & 25 VICT CAP 42’, referencing the 1861 London Coal and Wine Duties Continuance Act. At ground level, the post includes the maker's mark.
