Description

Brook House is a small house dating to the late 17th century, located on Middle Street in Nazeing. It is timber-framed and plastered, with a red plain tile hipped roof. Originally built with two bays and a central chimney bay, a further bay was added to the southeast in the 19th century. The south wall has some weatherboarding. The front has a three-window range, featuring early 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars, and a 19th-century casement window in the extension. A 20th-century timbered and gabled porch fronts the central door. The original red brick chimney stack remains. Internally, there are substantial bridging joists and deep section common joists.
