Description
Netherhall Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 14th century or early 15th century, with alterations made in the 15th century, 16th century, and 20th century. It is timber framed and plastered, topped with a red plain tile roof, and has two storeys. The original layout was H-shaped, featuring jettied and gabled crosswings on both the left and right sides. An additional gabled and jettied wing was added at the south end in the early 16th century, while a long range was added at the north end in the 15th century. The house has a window arrangement of 1,1,2,1 with 20th-century leaded casements and includes one bay window. The north crosswing originally had an oriel window at the first floor level. The 15th-century wing was formerly jettied at the front and side, and an exposed dragon beam can be seen internally. Inside, most of the timber frame remains intact, featuring an original crown post roof in the hall that is heavily sooted. There is one ogee door head, and the 16th-century wing has a high-quality arch-braced side purlin roof along with 16th-century fireplaces.
