Description
Petcheys Cottages is a 17th-century lobby-entrance house that has been divided into two cottages and extended in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is timber framed and roughcast rendered, with a roof made of handmade red clay tiles. It consists of three bays oriented approximately northeast to southwest, featuring a double chimney stack in the middle bay that creates the lobby entrance. The structure was centrally divided in the early 19th century to form two separate cottages, and each end was extended by one bay. There is a lean-to extension along the entire length of the rear, which has a catslide roof from the 19th or 20th century. A glazed porch and conservatory were added at the rear in the 20th century. Some of the framing is exposed internally, and there are axial beams with lamb's tongue stops, along with primary straight bracing in the 19th-century extensions.
