Description
Wren House is a shop, dating back to the 16th century with significant alterations in the 18th century. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with a red plain tiled roof that is hipped at the front and to the right return. The eaves project, supported by a moulded cornice. It is two storeys high. The front of the building has one window, and two return windows, all with late 18th-century small-paned sash windows in moulded architraves. On the ground floor, the front face features an 18th-century bow window and a 20th-century part-glazed door, set within an original opening. Three pilasters with plain bases and moulded capitals support moulded and dentilled window and door heads, topped by a plain fascia with a projecting, moulded cornice. The entrance is approached by three steps with wrought iron baluster rails. The right return has two 18th-century sash windows. A 20th-century three-board door is centrally placed, with an 18th-century surround and a moulded soffit under a flat canopy supported by brackets. A central red brick chimney stack is visible.
