Description

Parsonage House is an early 16th-century house, with later alterations and extensions. The house is timber-framed and plastered, featuring a yellow brick facade. It has a red plain tile roof, which is hipped and gabled. The building is two storeys high with attics, and has a five-window front with vertical sliding sashes and glazing bars. Some sashes include side lights, all set within gauged brick arches. A 16th-century wing projects to the rear and is jettied. Red and yellow brick chimney stacks are present. The interior retains a high-quality timber frame with a braced collar and side purlin roof. Later 17th, 18th, and 19th-century details include doors, fire surrounds, and Doric half columns in the entrance hall. The house sits on a moated site.
