Description
This is a late 17th-century barn located southeast of Berners Hall, featuring an eight-bay timber frame. The barn has a combination of tarred weatherboarding and render, with a midstreys on the south side near the eastern end. The roof is hipped and overhanging, supported by brackets that incorporate reused 13th-century timbers. There are lean-to extensions along the south side, and the roof is covered with corrugated iron. The posts do not have jowls, and the V struts are shaped to support the side purlin roof. The barn displays halved and bladed scarf joints and slightly curved wall bracing. Additionally, there is a red brick wall, which is semi-circular in plan, enclosing the yard on the north side of the barn, dating from the 18th century.
