Description
No 6 Trinity Street is a 17th and 18th century timber-framed building featuring a striking red brick facade. It stands two storeys high with attics and includes one dormer. The roofs are tiled, and the building has cellars. The front displays a wood modillioned eaves cornice and a seven-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars, except on the ground floor where the windows are in flush cased frames with segmental brick heads. A brick band runs along the facade. The central entrance features a pedimented doorcase with Ionic pilasters, an arched doorway, a fanlight, and panelled reveals. Inside, there is notable panelling, exposed timber-framing, and a staircase with turned balusters. This building was home to John Wilbye, the madrigal composer, from 1574 to 1638. Nos 2 to 14 Trinity Street form a group.
