Description

Sampton Wick is an early 14th-century hall house with a crosswing, located on Peldon Wigborough Road. The building is timber-framed and has a red plain tile roof. The crosswing is two storeys high, while the remainder of the house is one storey with attics. The front has a 1:3 window range of modern casements, with one gabled dormer window. The crosswing is gabled and features modern exposed timbers, with a jettied upper level supported by curved brackets. A modern extension is present to the south-west, matching the roof material. Some late 19th-century brick underbuilding exists at the rear. Internally, the hall contains a 17th-century inserted first floor. Notable features include a 14th-century ogee door head and a 14th-century crown post roof in the crosswing.
