Description

Boxted Lodge is an early 19th-century building of painted brick, constructed in a Flemish-bonded style. It is situated on Straight Road, Boxted. The main structure is three storeys and four bays wide, with a single-storeyed, semi-hexagonal projection on each side of the ground floor. The central front door has six fielded panels, panelled surrounds, and a flat stone entablature supported by two square and two round Ionic columns. To either side of the door are two pairs of hornless sash windows with glazing bars, and three pairs to each of the flanking bays, all set beneath straight arches with grooved keystones. A range of five matching sash windows continues on both the first and second storeys. The building has modillioned eaves and a hipped slate roof with two chimneys at the rear.
