Description
Grey Friars is an 18th-century building with a notable mid-18th century red brick front, which is dated 1755 on the rainwater head. The structure has two storeys, attics, and cellars, with hipped tiled roofs. The central front of the building slightly projects forward and features a pediment, an upper storey Venetian window supported by Ionic columns, and a central doorcase with attached Ionic columns. The parapet has a three-window range, with two-storey bay windows on either side of the central front. Large red brick wings, designed in the 18th-century style, were added to the east and west sides in 1910. The garden front, added in 1780, showcases a fine five-windowed bay flanked by Venetian windows on the first floor. The interior retains contemporary features. Grey Friars is part of a group that includes East Hill House, All Saints House, Hillcrest, Winsley House, and Nos 83 and 84.
